Seychelles Permanent Representative to the United Nations Presents Credentials to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

On 3rd December 2025, the Permanent Representative of Seychelles to the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, presented her Credentials to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, officially marking the beginning of her tenure in New York.

In the meeting following the ceremony, Ambassador Fock Tave conveyed the greetings and best wishes of President Dr. Patrick Herminie to the Secretary-General. She also conveyed Seychelles’ appreciation to the Secretary-General for his steadfast advocacy on issues affecting Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and for his efforts to promote maritime safety and security during his tenure at the United Nations, as well as for his unwavering commitment to reinforcing multilateralism in the face of complex global challenges.

The Secretary-General noted the difficulties that SIDS, like Seychelles, face and commended initiatives taken by the Seychelles government to make progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Ambassador Fock Tave succeeds Ambassador Ian Madeleine as Permanent Representative to the UN after serving as Principal Secretary in the Foreign Affairs Department from May 2021 to July 2025.
